CHRIS YOUNG TEAMS UP WITH ROCK CAN ROLL®
IN A ‘RACE’ TO ‘BEAT HUNGER’ AT ALL LEGEND & MODIFIED RACES THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER AT RIVERHEAD RACEWAY
JERICHO, NY – CHRIS YOUNG, Long Island’s youngest (15 year old) INEX Legend racecar driver has teamed up with ROCK CAN ROLL®, a not for profit hunger relief organization, based on Long Island, and he is racing to beat hunger! Chris is asking all race “FANS to bring CANS”, or any healthy and nutritious non-perishable food donation, to his pit stall at RIVERHEAD RACEWAY when he races his INEX Legend car this summer. On those nights the Legends have off, NASCAR Modified Driver Chris Young will accept all food donations in his son’s place. Founded by Aimée Holtzman, ROCK CAN ROLL® procures and delivers food and basic necessities collected at concerts and events, to local emergency food agencies.
rock CAN roll, Inc®., is a volunteer, 501c3, non-profit, hunger relief organization and think tank whose mission is to be a source that CAN continually restock the shelves of emergency food agencies.
rock CAN roll collaborates with rock concerts, schools, corporations, and private individuals to collect canned and non-perishable food (and basic provisions) for distribution to local agencies and into the hands of children, seniors and families who live with hunger and poverty.
The rock CAN roll organization is always looking for new collaborators, volunteers, supporters and friends to help in this quest to beat hunger.

Leading a Race
I led my first few laps at Riverhead Raceway. Even though it was in the consi, what a thrill it was!
For years I watched my Dad compete, lead races and win at Riverhead and now I had the birds eye view of leading a race. I wish it had been in the feature but hopefully that will come soon.
The feature was action packed. I started the race in 21st and ended up, after dodging a few wrecks and passing a couple cars, in fifteenth. It was a lot of fun.
After the race I had the opportunity to congratulate Nowak in stands, WOW was he fast. I told him I couldn't even see him from where I sat. Wonder if he'd share his set up with a rookie?
I also have an exciting announcement, World Tile and Carpet on Route 58 in Riverhead, became my newest marketing partner, joining Movies in the Moonlight, Aces Landscaping and ASI Racewear. With support from these great companies I am looking forward to a successful rookie season.
If you want to get floored call World Tile and Carpet and tell them I sent you!!!

Mission Accomplished !!!!
Wow what a ride! How can it be over already? Those were the two thoughts I had as I drove under the checkerd flag for the first time at Riverhead Raceway. This past Saturday both my goals were met and then some. My first goal was to qualify - everyone qualified so I didn't have to worry about that. My second goal was to finish the race. I did... A finishing position of 13th out of twenty two cars made this weekend a success. Prior to the heat races I attended my first drivers meeting in which I got to meet most of the competitors. Some welcomed me into the division and gave me some pointers. I was even asked to program one drivers raceceiver (name with held to protect the innocent). Talking with the experienced drivers Paul Dodorico and Glen Maningo really helped me calm down for the race. The other unexpected excitement of the day was that Newsday was at the track shooting video, taking pictures and interviewing me and my family. The positive press just kept on coming not only for me but for the racetrack itself. The story NEWSDAY did will not be in the paper, but on their website NEWSDAY.Com at some point this week. It's was so cool to have the opportunity to represent my marketing partners.... Movies in the Moonlight...... Aces Landscaping..... and ASI Racewear..... in the press. This weekend was amazing. I cant wait for the next one!

I want to thank Ana Gutierrez for the work she did on the video and the still photos. It is so cool to have professional video and photos documenting a memory I will never forget....

With Press comes Pressure
For those of you who have read the recent articles about me, the papers make it seem like I have more experience than I do. I realize I am still a rookie, with a lot to learn. Qualifying for the race alone, is going to be a feat. I have two goals for Saturday #1 Make the race and #2 Finish the race. This is going to be a challenging weekend, resulting from a week of excitement based on the anticipation of tomorrows events. Sleep tonight is going to seem impossible. I am still so thankful for this tremendous opportunity. Other exciting news is the addition of a new marketing partner Frank Zagarino owner of "Movies in the Moonlight" has agreed and is enthusiastic about our new marketing partnership. No matter what occurs tomorrow I am looking forward to the fun and the challenge.

Rain, rain go away
So as you may have heard the races for today are caput. Therefore next Saturday will be the season opener. Its going to be a thrill when both my dad and I race that night. As for the events of today Newsday reporter, Mitch Freedmen, interviewed Mr. and Mrs. Cromarty (the promoters), Timmy Solomito (2008 legends champion), and myself (youngest rookie) about legend cars, younger drivers, and the track itself. This reporter came to the track even though he knew the races would probably be canceled. Hopefully positive press will continue through out the season. I also got some pointers from a veteran of the legends, Glen Maningo (#12), who took the time to welcome me into the fold.

I am starting this blog with a huge thank you to the Promoters of Riverhead Raceway, Barbara and Jim Cromarty. THANK YOU both for this awesome opportunity to be the first 15 year old to compete at Riverhead Raceway.
My parents tell me this opportunity isnt only about me, it is also about every kid here in NY that wants to race
I decided this blog will be a communication tool to share my experiences as I live them.....
So as they say
Get in, Strap in and Hold On!!!!
