First Collection

I want to publically thank the drivers, crew members and officials at Riverhead Raceway who took the green flag in a race to beat hunger here on the East End of Long Island. I am proud to team up with Rock Can Roll, a hunger relief organization whose vision it is to beat hunger one food donation at a time.
I received over 100 food donations from Riverhead Raceway drivers, crew members and officials to date, in the pit area of Riverhead Raceway. My plan is to collect food donations each time an event is held at Riverhead Raceway. I am confident just as tires, tools and racecars are loaded into racecar haulers each week, the people who are the heart of racing will remember to grab just one can of food each week to donate to this cause. Together the drivers who wheel and the crew's who prepare a NASCAR Modified, Late Model, Charger, Blunderbust, Legend, Figure Eight, Truck, Enduro, Demolition, Roll Over or Spectator Drag car can make a difference in the lives of people who go to bed hungry right here on Long Island.
I am also asking the race fan to join with their favorite drivers, crew members and officials in making food donations each week. Rock Can Roll donation bins will be located each week in the # 49 pit area. I will also accept dollar donations if that would be easier for you.
These food/dollar donations will then be delivered by Rock CAN Roll volunteers to our local East End food pantries, soup kitchens and churches who feed many of Long Island East Enders who live with hunger each day.
Please consider the possibility, if everyone who attends the races at Riverhead Raceway each week brings just one healthy, non perishable food donation what a difference we CAN all make in the race to beat hunger. Make it the last thing you do before leaving for the track. We CAN beat hunger one CAN at a time…..
